Notes

The Cayman Islands, as a British Overseas Territory, has no sub-national elected municipal bodies; local governance is handled by the Cabinet and the District Administrations. The 2009 Constitution Order and the 2023 Freedom of Information Law (which replaced the 2007 Freedom of Information Act) provide the open-government framework. Parliament (Parliament of the Cayman Islands) sessions are public; there are no separate municipal councils. The Ombudsman handles complaints under the Freedom of Information Law.
