Notes

Latvia's 2022 Law on Local Governments (Pašvaldību likums) replaced the 1994 Law on Local Governments (Par pašvaldībām) from 1 January 2023, following the 2021 territorial reform that reduced the number of municipalities from 119 to 43. Art. 35 establishes that domes sēdes (council sessions) are public and must be broadcast live. Notice, agenda, and materials must be published on the municipality's website at least 3 working days before the meeting. The State Chancellery and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development supervise compliance.
