Notes

Monaco has a single commune (the Commune de Monaco) coextensive with the Principality. The Conseil Communal (elected municipal council) is governed by Loi n° 959 of 1974. Meetings are public except for specific deliberations that the council decides to hold in private by majority vote. The Maire convenes sessions. Monaco's unique structure means the Commune is not a sub-unit of a larger state but operates alongside the State administration. French is the official language.
