47/100

Summary

The AIG is the executive-level general inspectorate for the integrated Belgian police, placed under the joint authority of the Ministers of Interior and Justice. The Inspector General is appointed by Royal Decree on a proposal of the joint ministerial committee for a renewable 5-year term. The AIG conducts compliance, disciplinary, and performance inspections of both Federal and Local Police. It refers disciplinary findings to the competent authority and may co-investigate serious incidents alongside the judicial police. All AIG staff must be sworn police officers, so civilian composition is not required by statute.
