Summary
The Auditor-General for Abia State is established under Sections 125-128 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and the Abia State Audit Service Law enacted by the Abia State House of Assembly. The Auditor-General is appointed by the Governor on the advice of the State Civil Service Commission, subject to confirmation by the State House of Assembly. The officeholder serves until statutory retirement age and may only be removed by the Governor on an address by the State House of Assembly for incapacity or misconduct. Annual audit reports are submitted to the State House of Assembly.
