The Уповноважений Верховної Ради України з прав людини (Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights / Ombudsman) is established under Art. 101 of the Ukrainian Constitution and Law 776/97 of 23 December 1997. Elected by the Verkhovna Rada for a 5-year term, the Commissioner investigates human rights violations by public bodies. Also serves as OPCAT NPM. IOI member.
