Summary
The LVMPD Citizen Review Board (CRB) was established in 1997 (members sworn in 2000) under Clark County Code Chapter 2.62 and NRS § 289.387, in response to the 1995 fatal police shooting of Daniel Mendoza. LVMPD is a consolidated city-county agency — the elected Clark County Sheriff heads the department — making the CRB Nevada's only county-level civilian oversight body with explicit sheriff jurisdiction. The 25-member all-civilian board reviews complaints of misconduct against all LVMPD officers including corrections staff at the Clark County Detention Center; independent panels may subpoena witnesses. Discipline recommendations are advisory. Jointly funded by Clark County and the City of Las Vegas at $317,950 annually.
