Summary
The Federal Public Prosecution is part of the judicial authority under Federal Decree-Law No. 38 of 2022. It has statutory authority to supervise all federal penal and correctional institutions, enter them at any time, receive inmate complaints, and ensure no person is held unlawfully. Deaths, serious injuries, or incidents of mass rebellion must be reported to the Public Prosecution immediately. It can compel production of records from institutions and refer findings to the Attorney General. It does not independently investigate police use-of-force incidents nor issue discipline.
