Summary
The Corruption and Crime Commission was established by the Corruption, Crime and Misconduct Act 2003 to combat organised crime and corruption in Western Australia. The Commissioner is appointed by the Governor on the recommendation of a joint parliamentary standing committee to a 5-year non-renewable term. The CCC has extensive coercive powers including public and private examinations, search powers, and the ability to compel testimony and production of documents. It is overseen by the Parliamentary Inspector and a joint standing committee. Reports are presented to Parliament.
