Sindicatura de Cuentas del Principado de Asturias
Summary
The Sindicatura de Cuentas del Principado de Asturias is the external audit institution (OCEx) of the Principality of Asturias, established by Law 3/2003 of 24 March and dependent on the Junta General del Principado de Asturias (the regional parliament). Its three Síndicos are appointed by the Junta General for six-year terms, renewable once; during the mandate they are immovable except for cause. The Síndico Mayor has the same six-year term and may be re-elected once. The institution was established on 21 April 2005. The Sindicatura audits the financial management of the Asturian public sector including local entities. Reports are submitted to the Junta General and made public. It operates alongside the national Tribunal de Cuentas with overlapping jurisdiction.
