Consello de Contas de Galicia
Summary
The Consello de Contas de Galicia is the external audit institution (OCEx) of the Autonomous Community of Galicia, established by Lei 6/1985 of 24 June and dependent on the Parlamento de Galicia. Its five Conselleiros are designated by the Parlamento by a three-fifths majority for six-year terms; the first cohort had staggered terms (three for three years, two for the full six) to ensure continuity. The Consello audits the economic, financial, and accounting management of the Galician public sector including local entities. Reports are submitted to the Parlamento and made public. The institution operates in both Galician (its official name, Consello de Contas) and Spanish (Consejo de Cuentas), and functions alongside the national Tribunal de Cuentas with overlapping jurisdiction.
