Constitutional office attached to the Legislative Branch that audits all revenues, accounts, and disbursements of the Commonwealth, including the Negociado de la Policía de Puerto Rico and the Department of Corrections. The Comptroller is appointed by the Governor with bicameral advice and consent for a 10-year term and may only be removed by impeachment.
