Summary
The Independent Commissioner Against Corruption of South Australia was established by the ICAC Act 2012 to provide independent oversight of integrity and misconduct in the SA public sector. The Commissioner is appointed by the Governor on the advice of the executive to a 5-year non-renewable term. ICAC SA investigates corruption, misconduct, and maladministration involving public officers, and can conduct hearings with powers to compel testimony and production of documents. The office also performs an oversight role with respect to other integrity agencies. Reports are presented to Parliament.
