Summary

The Ombudsman of Alberta is appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Legislative Assembly. The Ombudsman investigates complaints from the public about administrative actions of provincial government departments, agencies, and local authorities. The office has powers to examine witnesses and compel production of documents. Reports are submitted to the Legislative Assembly.
