Controleorgaan op de Politionele Informatie / Organe de contrôle de l'information policière
COC
Summary
The COC is the autonomous federal parliamentary body and specialised data-protection authority for police information in Belgium. Established (in its current form) by the Act of 30 July 2018, it monitors compliance with data protection law by the integrated police service, the AIG, and the Passenger Information Unit. It operates both reactively (complaints) and proactively (audits of police zones and units). Its ten members are appointed by and accountable to the Chamber of Representatives. The COC does not investigate use-of-force incidents or recommend discipline; its mandate is strictly data-management oversight, and it refers conduct complaints to Comité P.
